Unifying Providers To Deliver at Scale

ACH works at the intersection of advocacy, sector development and system change.

We support our members and represent their interests nationally, but our role goes beyond representation alone. We help align sector priorities, coordinate national input, build evidence, strengthen capability and ensure policy is informed by delivery realities. Our work is grounded in the experience, expertise and ambition of community housing providers across Australia.

Advocating for Policy and System Reform

We engage with government, Housing Australia, Treasury, parliamentarians, industry and key stakeholders to influence the policy and investment settings that shape housing supply. Our advocacy is focused on creating the conditions for long-term growth in social and affordable housing, while positioning community housing providers as trusted and capable delivery partners.

This includes:

  • Shaping national housing policy
  • Informing funding and program design
  • Coordinating sector responses on major reforms
  • Promoting long-term pipelines that support consistent delivery
  • Reinforcing the social and economic value of community housing

Supporting delivery

ACH is focused on ensuring policy translates into viable, deliverable projects. Through advisory groups, technical reference groups, surveys, benchmarking and direct engagement with members, we help surface the operational realities that must be considered if national housing initiatives are to succeed in practice.

This work has been especially important in relation to the Housing Australia Future Fund, where ACH has coordinated practical sector input on program settings, contracts, risks and implementation challenges to support smoother delivery and reduce unnecessary complexity.

Strengthening Capability

ACH is committed to building a coordinated, capable and future-ready sector. We do this by convening members, facilitating shared learning, promoting practical tools and frameworks, and creating opportunities for collaboration across states, territories and specialist practice areas.
This includes:

  • Communities of Practice and specialist networks
  •  Roundtables and consultations
  • Conferences, National awards and scholarships
  • Sector resources and tools
  • Projects that support innovation, investment readiness and better housing outcomes

Annual National Conference & Awards

The ACH National Conference is the premier event on the community housing calendar, bringing together over 600 delegates each year, including housing leaders, ACH members, government representatives, industry partners, advocates and international guests in Canberra.

The conference serves as a strategic platform for the sector to connect, collaborate and help shape the future of social and affordable housing in Australia. From exploring new funding models and policy reform to strengthening partnerships and sharing practical solutions, the event drives important national conversations and supports stronger sector capability.

Across multiple days, delegates take part in keynote sessions, panel discussions, Communities of Practice, roundtables, networking events and a major trade exhibition showcasing innovation across the sector.

The conference culminates in the ACH National Awards & Scholarships Dinner, proudly recognising leadership, innovation and excellence across community housing.
